Memories for the Telling
No story shall ever be forgotten.

Capturing and preserving the life stories of individuals requires a very personal approach. This is true for everyone, but especially for those with Alzheimer's, AIDS or other life-limiting illnesses. That's why the professional team at Memories for the Telling (MFT) has developed a thoughtful, thorough process that will result in a truly memorable video recording for you and your loved ones.

The professionally trained, experienced MFT interviewer will chat with the subject and family members and review an informational packet with an outline of basic questions and procedures. This is a "get acquainted" opportunity often omitted by other, more superficial methods of memory recall and preservation. The MFT team will handle all aspects of the process. The family or caregiver needs only to supply photo albums or other existing items which will spark the recollections that make this process so effective. These materials also will be edited into the complete video to provide a true living memory in both words and pictures.

The MFT team comes to you at a location and at times comfortable for the subject. The initial interview is attended by the videographer to determine professional technical needs. Aided by information obtained in the initial interview and utilizing the visuals you provide as a springboard, the MFT interviewer brings to life the memorable moments in the subject's life. These interviews are conducted in a warm, reassuring manner, using techniques suited to the personality and individual circumstances of the subject.

Taping sessions are scheduled over a three-week period, generally one hour per session.

A professional video documentary producer will edit the interview segments and accompanying visuals into a cohesive, informative movie, complete with music, delivered on DVD, that will display a living portrait of the subject recalling precious memories while they can still articulate them.

Some reasons why life stories should be done:

  • Premise: "No story shall ever be forgotten," family history from generation to generation, remembrance for family members.
  • Helps the Alzheimer's participant in recalling their past.
  • When necessary, the participant enters a care facility as an individual - the caregiver has immediate background information about their patient.
  • Provides study information for pharmaceutical companies trying to find a cure, as well as sociological studies for baby boomers.
